The Portal Raises $5 Million to Launch Austin Flagship for Members Club Dedicated to Human Flourishing
The members club announces expansion to Downtown Austin with a 15,000-square-foot wellness, arts, and cultural destination opening Fall 2026.
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Portal, a membership club dedicated to human flourishing, announced it has closed a $5 million funding round to support the launch of its second location in Downtown Austin. The new flagship space, opening Fall 2026 at 601 Rio Grande, will expand The Portal’s vision of creating urban sanctuaries centered around wellness, creativity, thought leadership, and meaningful connection.
The Portal first opened in Marin/San Francisco in 2024 and has become known for its community of founders, creatives, technologists, wellness leaders, and cultural changemakers.
The Austin location will occupy approximately 15,000 square feet of a downtown Austin property and will feature a rooftop pool, cold plunges, 30 person sauna, movement studio, state-of-the-art sound system, restaurant and bar, members lounge, coworking space, art gallery, podcast studio, and a rooftop stage.

Programming at The Portal Austin will include live music, salon discussions, immersive experiences, keynote talks, movement classes, and member-led gatherings. “The Portal creates opportunities for members to share their expertise, creativity, and passions with each other,” said Tim Chang, CFO & Co-Founder. Members will also receive reciprocal access to more than 30 partner clubs worldwide.
The Austin location is being designed by FanFare, a creative agency building culture through design, experience, and execution. The project is led by FanFare founder Bill Swano alongside lead interior designer Bernadette Stewart.
