Nick O’Brien appointed President and Chief Operating Officer

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TeachMe.To, the hub for finding and booking local in-person sports and skills instruction, today announced that it has named Tyler Maloney as Chief Executive Officer. Nick O’Brien, who served as the company’s CEO since 2021, will become President and Chief Operating Officer.

With more than a decade of experience leading early-stage startups, Maloney will guide TeachMe.To into its next chapter of innovation and expansion. A North Carolina native, Tyler holds a degree in Materials Science & Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. He co-founded Undercover Colors in 2014, founded Faves in 2019 and has raised over $25 million in venture funding for his companies.

O’Brien, a Vanderbilt alumnus and serial entrepreneur, co-founded Alloi in 2020 and Boxtrot in 2021. As CEO of TeachMe.To, he has grown the business from zero to $4 million in GMV, delivering more than 50,000 lessons in two years, while becoming the leading provider of pickleball lessons in the world. Under O’Brien’s leadership, TeachMe.To has grown to a team of 20 and scaled across the U.S., serving over 100 cities in three sports. He will continue to oversee daily operations and corporate development at TeachMe.To.

Launched in 2023, TeachMe.To is the easy way to learn to play or acquire a new skill. The platform enables anyone to find and book local lessons with the closest, most affordable and friendliest coaches in more than 100 U.S. cities. TeachMe.To currently offers lessons in pickleball, golf, tennis, surfing, music and more.

The platform also enables talented athletes and experts to share and monetize their expertise by either building out their client portfolio or breaking into coaching entirely. The marketplace connects coaches with students seeking introductory lessons or ongoing training. Top earners on the platform are already making upwards of $5,000 per month.

“TeachMe.To is addressing an enormous void in the marketplace by making it simple for people who eagerly want to learn a new skill or activity, to connect with friendly local experts that are willing to teach,” Maloney said. “It’s an exciting point in the company’s trajectory and I’m looking forward to navigating the business to its next level of success.”
