HITN Honors the Legacy of Pope Francis With a Special Program

The special broadcast, airing today at 8pm ET/PT, offers a close look at the life of the Supreme Pontiff

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HITN, the leading Spanish-language public television network in the United States, today announced the broadcast of “Adiós al Papa Francisco," an extraordinary program dedicated to honoring the memory and legacy of the late Pope Francis.

At this historic moment for the Catholic Church and the entire world, HITN will present an emotional interview with the first Latin American Pope, where he reflects on key moments in his life. The exclusive interview with His Holiness was conducted in Italian and subtitled in Spanish for the HITN audience.

On March 13, 2013, the world heard the historic words habemus papam, announcing the election of the first Pope from Latin America. Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Argentina in 1936, chose the name Francis in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi.

Few know that Pope Francis was the first Jesuit priest elected Pope and was fluent in seven languages, which reflected his vocation to build bridges between different cultures and peoples. This facet, along with other lesser-known aspects of his life, will be revealed in this special broadcast.

The special program will air April 21 on HITN at 8pm ET/PT and 11pm ET/PT. There will be a weekend broadcast on Sunday, April 27 10am ET/PT. The special interview is available on HITN GO for all subscribers.
