Booz Allen Wins 2025 Cogswell Award for Security Excellence

Colorado Springs team achieves highest industry security standard

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) announced today that its Colorado Springs office has won the James S. Cogswell Award, the most prestigious recognition from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). Less than 1% of the more than 13,000 cleared eligible recipients in the Department of Defense’s (DOD) National Industrial Security Program (NISP) receive the award for maintaining a security program that goes above and beyond NISP requirements, and for providing leadership to other cleared facilities for high security standards.

This marks the third time the Colorado Springs office has won the award, and the sixth overall for the company. The Colorado Springs Security Services team is responsible for overseeing an extensive employee community that spans several states, from Colorado to Texas, supporting a range of critical space and intelligence missions on behalf of the federal government.

“Security as a practice is woven into everything we do at Booz Allen, as failure to adhere to the highest security standards can derail an important project or contract, putting the nation at risk. We take security very seriously,” said Michael Johnston, Booz Allen senior vice president and head of the company’s Colorado Springs office. “This recognition is a testament to our team’s relentless pursuit of innovation to safeguard the information, systems, spaces, agencies, and people we serve.”

The process to be considered for the Cogswell Award is extremely rigorous, with an intensive eight-month DCSA evaluation process, including review by 57 external agencies.

“The criticality of maintaining security excellence in a world of escalating threats, rising geopolitical tensions, and digital transformation can’t be overstated,” said Sharon Claridge, chief security officer at Booz Allen. “Winning the Cogswell Award, especially multiple times, validates the power of Booz Allen’s VoLT (Velocity, Leadership, Technology) strategy to translate our security commitment into mission impact for our clients and the nation.”

The Cogswell Award was established in 1966 to honor the legacy of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, the first chief of the Unified Office of Industrial Security. Col. Cogswell was responsible for the underlying principles of the industrial security program, recognizing the importance of true partnership between industry and government to ensure the protection of classified information, materials, and programs.
