Metronet Lights Up Kokomo with 100% Fiber-Optic Internet

First Residential Customers Now Online as High-Speed Network Expands Across the Community

EVANSVILLE, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Metronet today announced that it has begun to light up its new residential fiber-optic network in Kokomo, Ind. Homes in initial construction areas can now access multi-gig speeds from the fastest major internet service provider in the country, with service expanding rapidly across the city.

Metronet has proudly served business customers in Kokomo for the past five years, helping to support the city’s commercial growth and digital infrastructure. Two months ago, the company announced that it would expand its 100% fiber network to homes as well, bringing the same level of speed and reliability to residents. The fiber-optic infrastructure—funded entirely by Metronet—is designed to support long-term growth, innovation, and state-of-the-art connectivity throughout the city.

Customers in service-ready areas can check availability and sign up for service at metronet.com.

“As Metronet’s first residential customers in Kokomo begin to experience our blazingly fast internet speeds, we’re excited to celebrate this important milestone,” said Kris Smith, vice president of city relations at Metronet. “From day one, we’ve heard from residents eager for better, faster, more reliable internet. With our 100% fiber network, we’re proud to deliver exactly that to more people in our home state of Indiana.”

Residential customers can enjoy speeds up to five gigabits per second, while business customers can access up to 10 gigabits per second. Metronet’s fiber-to-the-home service is symmetrical, meaning customers can upload just as fast as they download, which is ideal for streaming, remote work, smart-home technology, and cloud-based applications.

Headquartered in Evansville, Ind., Metronet built its first 100% fiber-optic network in Greencastle, Ind. in 2005. Since then, it has expanded its award-winning internet service across Indiana and to 18 other states, serving more than 300 communities.

Recently named PCMag’s “Fastest Major ISP in the Country” for 2023 and 2024, Metronet delivers a superior online experience with no data caps, no buffering, and no shared bandwidth.

As construction continues in Kokomo, new areas will become service-ready on a rolling basis. Residents will receive advance notice before construction work begins via mail, yard signs, and other neighborhood updates. Metronet crews are easily identified by branded vehicles, uniforms, and ID badges. Additional details on the construction process can be found at metronet.com/construction.

Metronet is also actively hiring in Indiana and across its growing national footprint. Open positions and career opportunities can be found at metronet.com/careers.

With this launch, Kokomo joins more than 40 Indiana cities benefitting from Metronet’s 100% fiber network, including Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood, Indianapolis, Lafayette and Westfield. To learn more, visit metronet.com/in.
