Astound Announces $81 Million Investment to Upgrade and Expand Fiber Network in the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania

More than 315,000 homes and 25,000 businesses in fiber network’s footprint

PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Astound, a recognized leader in WiFi, Mobile, TV and fiber-optic solutions, today announced an $81 million investment to accelerate the upgrade and continued expansion of its fiber network infrastructure throughout key areas of Pennsylvania. Once complete, the project will provide more than 315,000 homes and nearly 25,000 area businesses with access to Astound’s advanced fiber-powered network, delivering reliable, multi-gig speeds, and paves the way for future residential and commercial internet speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

Starting this summer, Astound will be upgrading its network, with more than 185,000 homes and businesses having access by the end of 2025, with the full complement of 315,000 homes and 25,000 businesses connected to Astound’s network by the end of 2026. A local team of over 600 has begun upgrading over 4,800 miles of its state-of-the-art infrastructure and extending its existing network throughout the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania (NEPA).

Astound engineered its fiber network upgrade and expansion to power the fastest connectivity speeds Pennsylvanians can rely on. Area households will be able to work, stream content, play games, and browse at lightning speeds without slowdowns, and will have improved reliability, supported by wall-to-wall WiFi 7 technology. Residents will also enjoy 4K streaming that enables anyone to watch their favorite shows in ultra-high definition, with little to no interruptions or pauses for loading. For gamers, the connectivity supports ultra-low latency, low-lag online experiences for smooth and responsive play. The network empowers households and businesses with multiple devices to all be connected at once – without compromising speed.

“Astound has long been a market leader in fiber expansion—it’s what we’re known for, and it’s why our customers choose us,” said Sanford Ames, Astound SVP and General Manager of Pennsylvania. “We’re building a network that doesn’t just meet today’s demands—it anticipates tomorrow’s. From remote work and 4K streaming to online gaming and smart home connectivity, our fiber-powered service is designed to be seamless, scalable, and always reliable.”

“Astound’s fiber network is uniquely suited to support mid-sized commercial customers across Pennsylvania—offering the flexibility, reliability, and scalability they need to grow,” said Patrick Knorr, Chief Commercial Officer for Astound Business Solutions. “This expansion also complements our existing capabilities to deliver 400Gb+ connectivity for large enterprise clients, reinforcing our commitment to future-ready infrastructure for businesses of all sizes. Astound’s network is built for what’s now—and what’s next.”
