Nanotherm and Battelle Announce Launch of Novara™

New Company to Deliver Advanced Carbon Nanotube-Based Heating Solutions to Automotive, Industrial and Consumer Markets

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nanotherm, a leader in advanced carbon-based thermal management solutions, is teaming up with global research and development powerhouse Battelle to launch Novara™, a new company that will accelerate the development and commercialization of next-generation heating solutions for the automotive, industrial and consumer sectors.

Based in Columbus, Ohio, Novara will combine Nanotherm’s expertise in developing and commercializing nanotechnology products with Battelle’s extensive material science capabilities, which include over fifteen years of pioneering advanced heating technologies in automotive and aerospace applications.

Novara will focus on various heating applications, including electric vehicle battery heating, automotive seat heating and architectural heating solutions. Through joint research and development efforts, Novara and Battelle will explore new opportunities to leverage nanotechnology to address challenges in additional industries, including electronics, energy and healthcare.

Novara will continue to build on Nanotherm’s success in advancing carbon nanotube (CNT) technology from coatings to films, with scalable production capabilities enabling consistent, high-volume manufacturing. Through a strategic partnership, the company will provide a roll-to-roll process for manufacturing thin film heaters, offering excellent economies of scale, cost savings for customers and reliable delivery for customers.

Battelle will be represented on Novara’s Board of Directors. Terms of the deal include a license of certain Battelle IP assets to Novara to enable the company to develop and commercialize its technologies and products in multiple fields.
