EdgeRunner Announces New Military Agents in Public Beta

Department of War users can now access AI agents for logistics, combat medicine, and combat arms at no cost

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--EdgeRunner AI, the leader in domain-specific, air-gapped, on-device AI agents for the military, today announced the release of new military-specific AI agents in the EdgeRunner platform, including smaller AI agents capable of running on less powerful hardware without the internet. Department of War (DoW) users now have access to these AI agents at no cost as part of the EdgeRunner DoW Beta.

“These new AI agents are capable of running on a wider range of devices, including consumer-grade laptops and workstations,” said Tyler Saltsman, Co-Founder & CEO at EdgeRunner AI. “We’re committed to giving warfighters the best AI so that we don’t just win the fight, we dominate.”

EdgeRunner-Light is a new, state-of-the-art small language model (SLM) capable of running on consumer-grade laptops and workstations. Alongside EdgeRunner-Light, we are releasing specialized AI agents for logistics, combat medicine, and combat arms.

EdgeRunner AI offers a state-of-the-art Generative AI platform that delivers occupation and mission-specific AI agents air-gapped on-device. Specifically developed for the warfighter, this technology offers both defense and enterprise users a hyper-personalized assistant powered by AI agents that functions independent of internet connectivity for increased privacy and security.

The platform is powered by state-of-the-art small language models (SLMs) of various parameter sizes (EdgeRunner-Medium and EdgeRunner-Light), purpose-built for military operations. Optimized for secure, on-device deployment across AI PCs and edge computing environments, the platform delivers high-performance AI capabilities without requiring internet access. EdgeRunner supports a wide range of functions, including chat, Q&A, summarization, language translation, transcription, code generation, multi-document RAG (PDF, Word, PowerPoint), text-to-speech (TTS), and speech-to-text (STT). Military Occupational Specialty (MOS)-specific adapters tailored for roles such as logistics, combat medic, and combat arms ensure responses are contextually accurate and operationally relevant for each user.

By running locally on-device, the platform is more cost effective and energy efficient while providing increased data privacy, security, and reliability in Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited (DDIL) environments.
