OLD GREENWICH, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WorldQuant, a global quantitative asset management firm, today announced the winners of the fifth International Quant Championship (IQC), its flagship global quant competition. The 2025 edition set a new record for participation, doubling in size to nearly 80,000 participants from 11,000 universities across 142 countries who submitted more than 263,000 alphas1.

Twelve teams, representing the top 0.02% of participants, gathered in Singapore from September 28-30 to compete in the finals for the chance to win from a prize pool of $100,0002. This year, several university leaders and external stakeholders also joined their students for the competition.

The 2025 IQC Champions:

  • Second Place: Sumit Kumar from Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad in India
  • Third Place (tie): John Tingoi from CHUKA University in Kenya as well as Chia-Chun Chung from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan

“We are excited to see IQC continue to grow as we bring together some of the world’s brightest minds,” said Igor Tulchinsky, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of WorldQuant. “This year’s finalist teams span four continents, underscoring our belief that talent is universal. In IQC, we have built a platform that provides education, network, and opportunity for competition to nearly 80,000 young people around the world. We are proud that WorldQuant is at the forefront of developing the next generation of quants.”

The IQC leverages the WorldQuant BRAIN platform, an interactive, web-based simulation environment. The competition embodies WorldQuant’s broader commitment to democratizing access to careers in quantitative finance. IQC has reached over 176,000 participants with a competition alumni network that stretches around the world. Top performers in IQC and BRAIN, which now hosts more than 10,000 consultants, may be considered for research consulting, internships, or full-time employment opportunities at WorldQuant. Since inception, nearly 80 offers for full-time and internship positions have been extended to BRAIN consultants and IQC winners.

“Bringing together this year’s finalists in Singapore was an inspiring look inside the global talent pool and how novel ways of thinking can bring new perspectives,” said Nitish Maini, WorldQuant’s Chief Strategy Officer. “The IQC is reflective of WorldQuant’s approach to fostering diverse perspectives to help inform innovative approaches. Both IQC and the BRAIN help us test the skillsets of participants in a way that more closely resembles real world job requirements within the quant field. Congratulations to this year’s winners, and we look forward to continuing to cultivate the next generation of quants.”

In 2025, WorldQuant launched Learn2Quant, a video series that provides in-depth lessons to aspiring quants. Through these tools and more, the firm has built a global infrastructure designed to find, develop, and empower undiscovered talent.
