Mississippi Department of Education Approves STEMscopes Science for Statewide Adoption

Accelerate Learning’s science curriculum is the only program approved for both grades K-5 and 6-8 science

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Mississippi Department of Education approved STEMscopes Science Mississippi for statewide adoption in science. Developed by Accelerate Learning, the core science curriculum is the only program approved for both grades K-5 and grades 6-8 science in Mississippi.

Created by teachers for teachers, STEMscopes Science Mississippi is written specifically to the Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards (MCCRS) for Science. It combines a robust digital platform with print resources and hands-on kits to empower teachers and students and bring science to life.

Grounded in proven instructional practices, STEMscopes Science Mississippi integrates real-world science and engineering problems into thought-provoking, three-dimensional lessons. Each chapter or “scope” is designed using the research-based 5E instructional model and includes additional phases for intervention and acceleration, allowing teachers to adjust instruction to students’ individual needs.

To ignite students’ curiosity and foster meaningful engagement, STEMscopes Science Mississippi immerses students in interactive activities and captivating phenomena that connect science concepts to everyday experiences. As students observe, question, explore, and apply their knowledge, they develop the critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills essential for academic and real-world success.

The program also includes a wide range of student support features to ensure equitable learning experiences, and materials are available in both English and Spanish.

For teachers, STEMscopes Science Mississippi provides a Teacher Toolbox with videos, instructional resources, planning tools, and supports. In addition, Accelerate Learning offers professional development to support teachers in effectively implementing the curriculum.

“STEMscopes Science gives Mississippi educators everything they need to teach science through fascinating phenomena,” said Amanda McGee, chief curriculum officer at Accelerate Learning. “With this program, students don’t just learn about science; they experience it — creating deeper understanding, stronger outcomes, and a lifelong interest in STEM.”
