Global Non-Resident Indians Association Aims to Promote India as a Global Leader

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dr. Krishnan Suthanthiran, President and Founder of TeamBest Global (TBG), announces the establishment of the Global Non-Resident Indians Association (GNRIA) as a division of Global Best Cure Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in India. Suthanthiran left India in 1969 and has lived in the U.S. for the past 53 years. As an Indo-American, he is proud to cherish his Indian heritage and American citizenship and to be an Indo-American.

The GNRIA, along with the Proud Indian Party—another think tank also founded by Dr. Suthanthiran—promotes the investment of one percent of every GNRI individual’s annual income in India as its goal.

Many non-resident Indians want to contribute to their motherland, India. In 2024, NRIs sent approximately 120 billion USD back to India. India, with its 1.5 billion brilliant minds, has enormous opportunities and challenges in competing in a global economy that is shifting from outsourcing to insourcing. Overseas citizens of India are also a tremendous asset and contribute to the welfare of citizens and the local economies. India’s current trade deficit with China alone over the last 12 months is nearly 100 billion USD.

As India seeks to address global challenges while meeting its own needs and growing its economy, numerous opportunities arise for Indian citizens. How can we, the GNRIs, help collectively and cooperatively to navigate the future by enhancing the efforts of the federal and state governments of India?

What is the path to building a stronger country? Reinvesting. Suthanthiran understands this and, in that spirit, established the GNRIA. The GNRIA, along with the Proud Indian Party—another think tank also founded by Suthanthiran—promotes the investment of one percent of every GNRI individual’s annual income in India as its goal.

The GNRIA will hold its first annual meeting in New Delhi, India, December 26–28, 2025. This meeting will explore ways to contribute to India’s growth while remaining connected to its roots. As part of this initiative, NRIs and residents can come together to discuss and brainstorm ideas on (1) how to make India a global leader in various fields, (2) explore ways to preserve and promote India’s cultural heritage and diversity, and (3) create actionable plans to address social, economic, and environmental challenges. The program aims not only to strengthen the bond between NRIs and their homeland but also to provide a platform for meaningful contributions to India’s development.
