Boots to Boardroom Podcast Shines Light on Armour Flood Fund

CENTER POINT, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Armour Excavating’s owner, Stephen Day, recently sat down with Hari Vasudevan, host of the Boots to Boardroom podcast, to talk about the company’s growth, its roots in the Texas Hill Country, and the team’s rapid response to the July 4 floods in Kerr County.

“This is about rebuilding Kerr County from within,” Stephen said on the podcast. “We’re not just moving dirt and debris—we’re helping people put their lives back together."

“This is about rebuilding Kerr County from within,” Stephen said on the podcast. “We’re not just moving dirt and debris—we’re helping people put their lives back together. We continue to focus on the large unfunded need for excavating equipment to clean up and rebuild.”

When the flood hit, Armour was on the ground within 24 hours with its crew volunteering for search and rescue, moving debris, and assisting the first responders. As the clean-up phase commenced, Armour was the only local contractor tapped by both national disaster recovery companies awarded the FEMA contracts to assist in the large scale clean-up effort.

But for Armour, the mission went further than providing machinery. The company partnered with the King’s Ransom Foundation to create a model that sends 100% of donations straight to vetted recovery work—no overhead, no delay. Local families, churches, and businesses can request help, and trusted local contractors (not just Armour) are mobilized to get the work done fast and transparently.

The episode also covers Stephen’s journey from Wall Street to excavation work, and how Armour has grown year over year by leaning into technology and using software tools for job quoting & scheduling, geo-tracking equipment & personnel, and overall operational efficiency. These systems provide the structure and visibility needed to run complex projects with precision and accountability.
