Seward & Kissel Adds Seasoned SEC Regulator to Distinguished Investment Management Group

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Seward & Kissel LLP announced today that Erin Galipeau has joined the Firm as special counsel in its Investment Management Group in Washington, D.C.

Galipeau comes to Seward & Kissel with nearly two decades of experience at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. While at the SEC, Galipeau served in the roles of examination manager and senior counsel where she conducted investment adviser and investment company examinations.

“We are thrilled to welcome Erin to Seward & Kissel,” said Managing Partner James Cofer. “Her firsthand regulatory experience and deep understanding of the investment management space will directly benefit our clients as they operate within the dynamic financial markets.”

During her career, Galipeau also served in other roles at the SEC, including as special counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel in the Division of Trading and Markets where she specialized in broker-dealer regulatory issues and crowdfunding initiatives. Additionally, Galipeau previously served as Vice President, Senior Counsel of the Managed Funds Association, an alternative asset management industry trade association, where she contributed to MFA’s engagement with policymakers.

“I’m excited to join Seward & Kissel and contribute to the Firm’s highly regarded Investment Management Group,” said Galipeau. “Having worked closely with regulators and industry stakeholders, I look forward to helping clients navigate challenges and advancing thoughtful, practical solutions in today’s complex regulatory landscape.”

“Erin’s background at the SEC and the MFA gives her a rare combination of regulatory insight and industry perspective,” said Kevin Neubauer, co-head of Seward & Kissel’s Investment Management Group. “She brings a strategic mindset and a collaborative approach that will enhance the value we deliver to our clients.”

Galipeau received a B.A. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. She is a member of the D.C. and Maryland bars.

Galipeau’s arrival reflects the momentum of a transformative year for Seward & Kissel, marked by the recent election of Daniel Bresler to Management Committee Chair and several strategic lateral partner hires across key practice areas, including: Mark Garibyan in the Litigation and Investigations Group and Lindsay Ditlow, co-head of the Employment Practice, from McDermott Will & Schulte; Randall Adams in the Litigation and Investigations Group from Schulte Roth & Zabel (now McDermott Will & Schulte); Susanne Burstein, head of Transportation Finance, from Watson Farley & Williams; Jacob Comer in the Investment Management Group from NovaQuest Capital Management; Caroline Lee in the Corporate Group from Dechert; and Edward Vergara, co-head of the Trusts & Estates Practice, from Dungey Dougherty.
