Telemedicine and Artificial Intelligence: Itaca Introduces Automatic Clinical Notes from Video Calls

MEXICO CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Telemedicine has become a regular part of medical practice since the COVID-19 pandemic and now plays an essential role across multiple specialties. Itaca, a medical AI platform, responds to the growing need for accurate documentation of teleconsultations by enabling doctors to automatically generate structured clinical notes from video calls. Used by more than 20,000 healthcare professionals across Latin America, the tool helps clinicians save time and streamline documentation during virtual consultations.

The new feature connects with leading video call platforms such as Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, allowing physicians to record their consultations and receive a complete, structured clinical note within minutes—without having to type manually. The notes follow the SOAP format and are ready to integrate into the patient’s electronic record, helping maintain organized, precise, and secure documentation.

“Remote consultations are here to stay. This feature allows physicians to focus on the patient while the AI takes care of the documentation,” said Dr. José Alfredo Puentes López, Medical Director of Itaca.

After the video call, Itaca automatically generates a clinical note that adapts to the physician’s specialty, reflecting the structure and terminology unique to each field. Whether it’s a psychiatric evaluation, a pediatric consultation, a postoperative follow-up, or an obstetric visit, the platform adjusts the format to capture the most relevant clinical details. It also includes templates for internal medicine, primary care, emergency care, hospital rounds, and nutrition, ensuring each record reflects the level of precision and context that clinical documentation demands.

This new feature is part of Itaca’s broader medical AI ecosystem, which also includes tools for transcribing in-person consultations, providing evidence-based clinical answers, and managing medical cases. Together, these solutions aim to reduce administrative burden and optimize digital clinical practice across hospitals, clinics, and private practices in Latin America.
