Amica Announces Leadership Changes as COO Ted Murphy Retires After 45 Years

LINCOLN, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Amica Mutual Insurance Company today announced leadership changes, as the organization celebrates the remarkable career of Ted Murphy, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer.

After 45 years of dedicated service, Murphy will retire at the end of 2025. Throughout his tenure, Murphy’s vision and commitment to excellence have shaped Amica’s growth and innovation, leaving a lasting impact on the company and its employees.

“Ted’s leadership has guided Amica through decades of progress,” said Amica President and CEO Ted Shallcross. “His influence will be felt for years to come, and we’re deeply grateful for his extraordinary contributions.”

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Sam Palmisano will assume the role of Chief Operations Officer. Palmisano, who currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, brings a strategic, collaborative approach and a deep understanding of Amica’s business.

In addition, Scott Boyd – currently a Vice President in HR – will be promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer on Jan. 1, 2026. Boyd has played a key role in shaping Amica’s culture and employee experience, and his forward-thinking perspective will continue to strengthen the company’s commitment to its people.
