ReposiTrak’s Expanding Scan-Based Trading Network Extends into Distribution Centers/Warehouses

ReposiTrak SBT 2.0 now supports products delivered through retailer warehouses and cross-dock operations, not just Direct Store Delivery

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ReposiTrak, Inc. (NYSE: TRAK), the leader in retail supply chain, compliance and traceability solutions, today announced that the first warehouse-delivered supplier is live with a major retailer on ReposiTrak SBT 2.0.

The implementation marks a significant expansion of the Scan-based Trading model beyond its traditional use by Direct Store Delivery suppliers. Under the new program, the supplier ships products through the retailer’s warehouse and distribution network while retaining ownership of the inventory until each product is scanned and sold at the retail register.

“Scan-based Trading is not limited to suppliers delivering directly to stores,” said Randy Fields, chairman and CEO of ReposiTrak. “This successful launch demonstrates that the financial and operational benefits of SBT can also be extended to warehouse-delivered products. The retailer does not have to purchase and finance the inventory before it sells, while the supplier gains direct visibility into store-level sales and inventory movement.”

ReposiTrak SBT 2.0 uses point-of-sale activity as the data of record for invoicing and inventory ownership. When a participating product is scanned at the register, the transaction automatically triggers the transfer of ownership from the supplier to the retailer and supports accurate supplier payment.

The model provides benefits to both trading partners. The retailer reduces its investment in inventory and aligns payment with actual consumer sales. The supplier maintains ownership until the product sells while gaining access to store-level sales and inventory information that can support better forecasting, replenishment and product availability.

Optional ordering assistance is also available through ReposiTrak for suppliers or retailers that need additional support managing replenishment. Ordering recommendations can use sales and inventory data to identify store-level product needs, reduce out-of-stocks and improve inventory productivity.

“The ability to support warehouse-delivered products substantially expands the addressable market for SBT,” Fields added. “Retailers and suppliers can now evaluate SBT based on the economics of the product category and the trading relationship—not simply on whether the supplier delivers directly to the store.”
