William Blair Adds Managing Director Focused on Insurance, Financial Services Sectors

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--William Blair announced today the expansion of the firm’s financial services team with the addition of William Nay as managing director. Based in Atlanta, Nay will support the firm’s delivery of comprehensive investment banking services to insurance distribution and other financial services firms. Since 2023, William Blair has completed more than 25 advisory and financing deals in the insurance and financial services sectors, unlocking more than $30 billion in value for clients.

“Throughout his career as both an investment banker and corporate M&A strategist, Bill has delivered exceptional results to clients and management teams,” said Britt Trukenbrod, managing director and head of Tech Enabled Services investment banking at William Blair. “Bill’s deep sector knowledge and relationships with executives, companies, and investors in the insurance sector provide a strong addition to our financial services practice.”

Nay most recently served as chief acquisition officer (CAO) for Galway Holdings, a leading financial services, insurance distribution, and wealth management platform. In addition, he served as CAO for EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants, Galway’s retail brokerage subsidiary. Before Galway, Nay spent 16 years as an insurance sector banker with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (now Truist), where he was responsible for origination and execution of M&A and capital raising transactions across a comprehensive range of companies in the insurance, insurtech, and fintech spaces. He received a Bachelor of Administration in finance from University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

“William Blair’s financial services investment banking team leverages deep technical expertise to provide critical capital-raising and strategic advisory solutions to growth-minded companies in the insurance sector and across the global financial services landscape,” Nay said. “I’m thrilled to join this group of collaborative bankers to continue building its capabilities, strong relationships, and exceptional client service.”

Nay continues William Blair investment banking’s senior growth in 2026. Michael Allwin joined as head of Biopharma earlier this month and other additions include Robert Engelhardt, Tech Enabled Services director in Frankfurt; Jayant Dey, managing director in the energy sector in New York; Alain Harfouche, managing director focused on chemicals in New York; Matthew Wolfe, who leads the firm’s technology Equity Capital Markets coverage; and Rishi Sethi, fintech managing director in London. The firm also acquired Inner Circle Sports, adding Sports, Media, and Entertainment to its sector coverage and more than 15 bankers to its investment banking team.
