E.SUN Deepens Global Biodiversity Collaboration with FfB, Bringing Taiwan’s Impact to the World
TAIPEI,Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--E.SUN Financial Holding Co., Ltd. (E.SUN FHC) continues to advance international collaboration in sustainable finance. In 2026, E.SUN FHC joined the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation (FfB) and signed the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge. E.SUN FHC also participated in CBD COP17 for the first time, showcasing Taiwan’s biodiversity efforts through global engagement and local action.
FfB brings together more than 200 financial institutions, representing over EUR 20 trillion in assets. Through FfB, E.SUN FHC brings global nature finance practices to Taiwan while sharing Taiwan’s experience in connecting finance, businesses, and local communities internationally.
During COP17, E.SUN FHC endorsed the Rotterdam Statement of Support for the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF), supporting an innovative financing mechanism that creates economic incentives for tropical forest conservation and helps mobilize private capital. The initiative demonstrates how finance can recognize the value of ecosystem services and channel investment toward protecting natural capital.
E.SUN FHC also joined “The trillion-dollar opportunity,” an open letter calling on governments to advance incentive reform under GBF Target 18, shifting incentives away from activities harmful to biodiversity and toward conservation, sustainable use, and more resilient economic activities. Such reforms can create stronger market conditions for nature-positive products, services, and business models.
On October 26, E.SUN FHC Chief Sustainability Officer Louis L.Y. Chang participated in the high-level dialogue “The Future of Nature is Economic.” Co-hosted by the Armenian COP17 Presidency and UN CBD, the dialogue brought together leaders from government, central banks, international financial institutions, and the private sector to discuss nature-related risks and opportunities, integrating nature into economic decision-making, and mobilizing public and private investment. Recognizing nature as a foundation for economic prosperity and resilience, participants highlighted cross-sector collaboration and innovative finance as critical to turning global biodiversity commitments into investment and action.
Beyond global initiatives, E.SUN FHC’s long-standing Malavi Project was featured in Local Biodiversity Outlooks 3 (LBO 3), released during COP17. LBO highlights how Indigenous Peoples and local communities contribute to global biodiversity goals. The Malavi Project was featured for its efforts in organic farming, biodiversity conservation, Indigenous cultural heritage, and local economic development, bringing Taiwan’s community-based biodiversity practices to the global stage.
E.SUN FHC Chairman Joseph N.C. Huang said, “A good ESG strategy is a good business strategy.” As nature-related risks and opportunities increasingly shape business and financial decisions, E.SUN FHC will continue connecting global trends, financial solutions, and local action, deepening collaboration with FfB and other partners to bring international experience to Taiwan and share Taiwan’s progress with the world. ***
